Genesis 44:8

Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold?

Reflection

Genesis 44:8 captures the integrity and honesty of Joseph’s brothers: “Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold?” This verse highlights the importance of truthfulness, accountability, and moral courage, even in difficult circumstances. The brothers affirm that they acted rightly, refusing to claim what did not belong to them.

It reminds us that integrity is not just a private virtue but also a public testimony. Honest actions, even when tested, maintain trust and reflect God’s guidance in our lives. Upholding righteousness may involve defending oneself or others, but doing so with honesty preserves character and honor.
