Ezekiel 36:2

Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:

Reflection
In this verse, God confronts the mocking of Israel by their enemies. The phrase “Aha” reflects scorn and arrogance, as the enemy claimed victory over the people and their sacred sites, the “ancient high places.” God draws attention to human pride and the false sense of security or ownership that oppressors often display. Despite appearances, ultimate authority and justice belong to the Lord.

Spiritually, the verse reminds believers that God sees and judges the arrogance and oppression of others. No one can claim lasting dominion apart from His will. Even when enemies mock or take temporary advantage, God’s sovereignty remains absolute, and He will act to restore justice and vindicate His people.

What This Verse Reveals
“Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha”
God notices the scoffing and pride of those who oppress or belittle His people.
“Even the ancient high places are ours in possession”
False claims to power or territory are temporary; God’s authority is supreme.

Why This Verse Matters
Ezekiel 36:2 teaches important spiritual truths:

God Observes Injustice – He sees both oppression and mockery.
Pride and Boasting Are Empty – Claims of victory without God’s approval are fleeting.
Sovereignty Belongs to the Lord – True ownership and authority rest with Him alone.

The verse reassures believers that even when enemies seem to triumph, God remains in control and will act according to His righteous purposes.

Application for Today
Ezekiel 36:2 encourages believers to trust God amid opposition and scoffing. When people boast or take advantage unjustly, God’s authority and timing are what truly matter.

It also calls for humility, reminding us not to take pride in temporary gains or worldly possessions. By depending on God’s justice and sovereignty, believers can face opposition with confidence, knowing that He defends and restores His people according to His perfect plan.
